Tigran Abrahamyan: Armenian authorities drawing war closer with their 'spineless' behavior
MP Tigran Abrahamyan of the opposition With Honor faction criticized the conduct of the Armenian authorities amid grave challenges facing the country, saying it is drawing a new war closer.
"The fact that the Russian-Ukrainian crisis would inevitably lead to a new wave of threats in the Eurasian region was evident from the very beginning of military operations, ” he wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.
The deputy claims that the international struggle against Russia will not be limited to sanctions, huge amounts of weapons supplied to Ukraine and the financial aid to Kiev.
“Everything is being done to make sure that new "hot spots" are formed around Russia and in the territories in Russia's sphere of influence, and that existing ones flare up,» Abrahamyan said.
“The main task of Armenia and Artsakh is to avoid becoming a firing ground for clashes between the Russian Federation and others as a result of these actions, which has become increasingly likely recently.
“Against this background, the statements of the Armenian authorities, their conduct and policies not only do not create an opportunity to prevent the described scenario, but also prepare a fertile ground for a new escalation.
“On the one hand, Pashinyan speaks about a threat of war, and on the other hand, the ruling parliamentary faction demonstrates shameful behavior.
“The authorities do not realize that the renewed war will not be limited to Artsakh. Moreover, most likely, it will be carried over to Armenia, which has already taken place in Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor and especially in Syunik on a small scale. The current government is drawing the war closer with its spineless behavior,” Abrahamyan stressed.
