Expert hails Artsakh parliament's latest statement as 'extremely important'
Varuzhan Geghamyan, an Armenian expert on Turkey and the Middle East, has praised Thursday’s statement of the Artsakh National Assembly as “extremely important”.
“We demand that the authorities of the Republic of Armenia abandon their current disastrous position… No government has a right to lower the negotiating bar for a status acceptable to Artsakh and the internationally recognized right to self-determination under the pretext of "peace". On behalf of the Artsakh Armenians, we apply to Armenians all over the world to stand united and resolutely by the brothers and sisters of Armenia and Artsakh in this just struggle,” reads the statement.
“After all this, all political, public groups and individuals who claim to support Artsakh's Armenian identity must take action to prove it and remove the de facto pro-Turkish authorities, which is the only efficient possible way to save Artsakh and Armenian statehood,” Geghamyan wrote on Facebook.
“Any other step, plan or discussion, which is not aimed at the removal of the traitorous authorities, amounts to a deviation from the Armenian agenda and contributes to the Turkification of Armenia,” he added.
