Expert: Renunciation of Artsakh would only increase existential challenges for Armenia
Iran specialist Vardan Voskanyan stresses that Artsakh cannot be part of Azerbaijan, adding it would put the Armenian statehood in danger.
“Artsakh cannot be part of the artificial entity called Azerbaijan, as it would launch the mechanism for the actual destruction of the millennia-old program of the existence of a viable Armenian statehood and, at best, would lead to the creation of an ethnographic reserve called ‘Ermenistan’,” he wrote on Telegram on Thursday.
The expert dismissed as “senseless” the claims that the “barbaric regime of Baku would allegedly calm down after getting a part of our homeland”.
He underscores that after taking control of the seven regions along with Shushi and Hadrut, Azerbaijani now claims the remaining part of Artsakh and prepares the ground for the occupation of Armenia’s Syunik Province to create some "Eastern Zangezur" in the occupied territories.
“Therefore, the renunciation of Artsakh would not end the existential challenges for Armenia, but would only increase them,” Voskanyan said.
