Tobacco production up in Armenia
Tobacco production grew by 16.4% in Armenia in January-February 2022 from the same period of 2021, according to the latest figures released by the Statistical Committee.
3,506,700 units of cigarettes were manufactured in the country in the first two months of this year, while the output stood at 3,012,400 last year.
The tobacco production share in Armenia’s manufacturing industry made up 9%.
A new law banning smoking in cafes, restaurants and all other indoor and outdoor public catering facilities in Armenia came into force on March 15.
Citizens flouting the law face a fine of 50,000 drams (around $100), while business owners – up to 200,000 drams (around $400).
