Artur Vanetsyan: I believe we will definitely succeed
Armenian MP Artur Vanetsyan, who leads the opposition With Honor parliamentary faction and the Homeland Party, remains in Yerevan’s Liberty Square along with a group of other opposition activists.
Vanetsyan started an open-ended sit-in on Sunday evening, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his cabinet.
The protest comes after Pashinyan’s latest statements on the need to “lower the bar” on Artsakh’s status and recognize Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.
“Our struggle continues,” Vanetsyan told reporters in the square on Wednesday morning, saying many people have visited the square to express their support for the struggle.
"Many people who take their children to school, kindergarten in the morning, come to the square on their way home, greet those who are here, express support for the movement and pledge to make every effort to provide a boost for it. There are very interesting developments, human stories and conversations," he said.
Vanetsyan dismisses the idea that people are not interested in issues concerning the homeland and statehood.
“Actually, it is not true. People clearly realize that losing their national identity and sovereignty, they cannot live in the country of their dreams. Our struggle is aimed at building a strong Armenia and Artsakh, putting an end to the conciliatory policies imposed by the enemy as well as the destructive policies pursed by the current authorities. I am convinced that we will definitely succeed," the opposition leader said.
