MP Tigran Abrahamyan from the opposition With Honor faction says the Armenian authorities’ efforts to provoke clashes during demonstrations and detain opposition activists only enhance the protest campaign aimed at ousting them.

"The government's "tricks" aimed at provoking clashes through the use of provocateurs and detaining the activists of the campaign only make the political process launched by the opposition more active and organized,” he wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.

“The police have clearly been ordered to be tolerant towards provocateurs in order to provoke clashes among citizens, generate hatred and instigate fights,” the lawmaker stated.

He denounced the detention of Chairman of the RPA Youth Organization Henrikh Danielyan early on Tuesday morning, calling him a “politically mature bright young man”.

“Our young people, compatriots who have stood up to fight are not easy to break, and the petty hooliganism will definitely produce the opposite result for the authorities,” Abrahamyan said.
