Oppositionist demands explanations from Armenian Foreign Ministry over Azeri FM's statements
Lawyer Arsen Babayan, a senior member of the opposition Homeland Party, has demanded explanations from the Armenian Foreign Ministry following the latest statements of a top Azerbaijani official.
Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov said on Tuesday that the Armenian authorities “have agreed” to proceed with the signing of a peace treaty, which envisages the handover of the so-called “seven villages of Gazakh and Kyarki” to Azerbaijan.
"In order for those like Edmon [referring to Ambassador-at-Large Edmon Marukyan] not to accuse us of citing Azerbaijani official sources, I would like to directly ask the Armenian Foreign Ministry: Can you refute today's statement by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry official concerning the enclaves?” he wrote on Facebook.
“If you refuse to comment on it, don't accuse anyone who has to follow the enemy sources of information,” he added.
