Expert: Armenia's pro-Turkish authorities plan to cede some areas to Azerbaijan
Varuzhan Geghamyan (Ph.D.), an expert on the Middle East and the South Caucasus, says the incumbent Armenian authorities plan to cede some districts in the country’s Tavush and Ararat Provinces to Azerbaijan.
"Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov said today that the de facto Armenian authorities have agreed to proceed with the signing of a peace treaty in Brussels, which envisages the handover of the so-called “seven villages of Gazakh and Kyarki” to Azerbaijan,” he wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.
“This means that the de facto pro-Turkish authorities of the Republic of Armenia are going to cede some areas of Tavush and Ararat Provinces to Azerbaijan.
“This is exactly what we are fighting against. If you are against this process, join the struggle!” he said, referring to the ongoing anti-government demonstrations organized by Armenia’s opposition forces.
