Opposition holding car protests in Yerevan
The Armenian opposition on Monday resumed protests to demand that Nikol Pashinyan step down as prime minister, organizing simultaneous processions of cars in various parts of Yerevan.
Car protests are being held on five roads, including the Ashtarak, Artashat, Yerevan-Abovyan, Argavand and Arinberd highways.
Addressing a rally in Yerevan on Sunday, opposition leader Ishkhan Saghatelyan, a deputy parliament speaker, urged thousands of opposition supporters taking part in the evening rallies to take to the streets in the morning in a bid to to step up pressure on the authorities.
"The rallies of thousands of people that we hold in the evening should take place in the morning to paralyze the whole city," he said, adding the protest campaign will gain new momentum starting from Tuesday.
