RPA spokesman: Nikol Pashinyan hiding behind police in fear
Armenia has no future with Nikol Pashinyan in power, Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) spokesman Eduard Sharmazanov said at opposition protests in Yerevan on Tuesday morning.
He claims new people join the civil disobedience campaign to force Pashinyan from office every day.
"We hold protest actions not only in the city center, but also in different parts of the capital. The goal is the same – the capitulant authorities must leave," Sharmazanov stressed.
The opposition politician also denounced the use of excessive and unlawful force by Armenia's riot police against opposition protesters.
"These are illegal actions. Human rights advocates have also talked about it. It proves one thing: Nikol Pashinyan is in fear. Yesterday's events show that Pashinyan is scared, he has no power and is hiding behind the police,” he stated.
“Brute force is a sign of weakness. What is surprising is that a man who spoke against the police actions all his life is now trying to make the police his servant.”
Sharmazanov claims that the campaign against Pashinyan is not something new, adding it has been going on for four years.
“Nikol Pashinyan has nothing to do in power, as this man has screwed up it all. He is a symbol of war, death and surrender of territories," he noted.
