Armenian opposition to hold rally ahead of Pashinyan's Brussels visit
The Armenian opposition will hold another rally in Yerevan’s France Square on Saturday evening to warn Nikol Pashinyan against concessions to Azerbaijan over Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) ahead of the Armenian premier’s visit to Brussels.
On May 22, Pashinyan will pay a working visit to Brussels, where he is expected to meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
Anti-government protests began in Armenia after Nikol Pashinyan hinted at concessions over Artsakh last month, saying that the international community wanted Yerevan to "lower the bar" on its status and recognize Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.
“By joining the rally, you are saying 'no' to capitulation and new concessions, sending a clear message to the world that this man [Nikol Pashinyan], who has come to power by misleading the people, has no mandate to speak on behalf of Armenia any longer,” opposition leader Ishkhan Saghatelyan said on Facebook live on Friday.
He noted that the opposition leaders would present their position on the Artsakh issue and the ways to get Armenia out of the current situation at the rally set to kick off at 6pm.
