Opposition starts car protests in Yerevan
The Armenian opposition began motorcade rallies in Yerevan early on Monday morning as part of its ongoing civil disobedience campaign to force PM Nikol Pashinyan from office and thus prevent unacceptable concessions to Azerbaijan.
“The action is aimed at telling our citizens that the struggle has not stopped, as some government circles claim. The struggle continues until we oust them [the authorities]. A change of power in Armenia is definitely inevitable,” said one of the protesters.
Addressing a rally in Yerevan’s France Square on Sunday evening, opposition leader Ishkhan Saghatelyan, a deputy parliament speaker from the Hayastan alliance, said car protests and other acts of civil disobedience would begin in the Armenian capital at 8am Monday. No rally is planned in France Square this evening.
