Police detain some protesters in Yerevan metro
A group of young protesters paralyzed the operation of the Yerevan metro on Monday as part of the ongoing civil disobedience campaign to oust Nikol Pashinyan and thus prevent unacceptable concessions to Azerbaijan.
They sat between the doors of metro carriages in one of its stations, chanting “Armenia without Nikol!", "Armenia without Turks!", "Nikol the traitor!" and "Struggle!”.
Shortly afterwards, the demonstrators moved to another subway station to continue the protest, where some of them were detained by officers of a special police unit.
Opposition Hayastan bloc MP Aregnaz Manukyan, who also took part in the protests, told reporters that the police used brute force to detain three activists, including a minor, who were not holding any action at the time.
“They ignored my warnings that one of them is a minor. They detained him, twisting his arms behind his back," the lawmaker said, adding the police did not tell her where the child was taken to.
