EU freezes Russian businessmen's assets
The European Union froze some 10 billion euros worth of assets belonging to Russian businessmen as part of its sanctions over the situation in Ukraine, the DPA news agency said on Wednesday, citing data from the European Commission.
Amid the special military operation in Ukraine, Russian businessmen lost access to luxury yachts, real estate and other assets worth a little under 10 billion euros, DPA reported. As of April 8, the figure was just 6.7 billion euros, it said.
The European Commission plans to come up with a bill later on Wednesday that will enable the seizure of frozen Russian assets.
