Opposition protesters march to Armenian president's residence
Armenia’s opposition leaders and supporters began a march from France Square in central Yerevan on Wednesday morning as part of the ongoing civil disobedience campaign to force Nikol Pashinyan to resign as prime minister.
Anti-government demonstrators, led by Ishkhan Saghatelyan, a deputy parliament speaker from the opposition Hayastan alliance, Artur Vantsyan, head of the Homeland Party and With Honor (Pativ Unem) parliamentary faction, Vahe Hakobyan, chair of the Reviving Armenia Party and a Hayastan MP, as well as Levon Kocharyan, the son of Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan, headed to the Armenian president’s residence on Baghramyan Avenue.
Chanting “Union, struggle, victory for Armenia and Artsakh!”, they urged people to join the protest campaign.
Reaching the area, Ishkhan Saghatelyan urged protesters to block the presidential residence at 26 Baghramyan Avenue.
