Protesters unblock entrances to presidential palace in Yerevan
Opposition protesters demanding Nikol Pashinyan’s resignation unblocked all entrances to the Armenian presidential palace in central Yerevan on Wednesday.
They surrounded the presidential palace as well as the buildings of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund and the Security Council on Baghramyan Avenue on Wednesday morning, preventing employees from entering or leaving them for over two hours.
“We are blocking the state agencies that do not cater for Armenia’s interests,” opposition leader Ishkhan Saghatelyan said.
Opposition MPs wanted to enter the Security Council building to “lay out the people’s demands”, but they were told that there was no one inside because the building had been blocked since early morning.
Afterwards, anti-government demonstrators unblocked entrances to the state agencies and decided to march along Proshyan Street.
