Opposition protesters march to SJC building in Yerevan
Opposition protesters demanding Nikol Pashinyan's resignation started a march from France Square to the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), a state body overseeing Armenian courts, in Yerevan on Thursday morning to join the parents of fallen soldiers protesting outside it.
The demonstrators were chanting “Armenia without Nikol!" and "Judiciary without Nikol!".
"We are heading to the SJC to join the parents of fallen servicemen and lay out our demands," opposition leader Artur Vanetsyan said.
The parents of Armenian soldiers killed in the 2020 war in Artsakh, who demand criminal charges against Pashinyan, gathered outside the state agency to protest against a decision of the Court of Criminal Appeals to hold hearings on an appeal to prosecute the premier for treason behind closed doors.
