Armenian opposition to hold motorcade rally to Yerevan
Gegham Manukyan, an MP from the opposition Hayastan bloc, extended congratulations on May 28, the day when the First Armenian Republic was officially established in 1918.
“Congratulations on our greatest holiday – the Armenian Statehood Restoration Day!” he wrote on Facebook, sharing a photo from Sardarapat, where a heroic battle took place against the Turkish troops in 1918.
“We are now faced with the challenges of defending the two Armenian statehoods,” he said, urging opposition supporters to keep up daily anti-government protests.
The opposition will hold a rally in Yerevan’s France Square on Saturday evening, Manukyan said.
“Before that, we will also visit Bash Aparan at 3pm to pay tribute to military commander Dro [Drastamat Kanayan] and then we'll hold a motorcade rally to Yerevan,” he added.
