Court denies request to release oppositionist Mikayel Badalyan on bail
The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction has denied a defense motion to release opposition figure Mikayel Badalyan from custody on bail, his lawyer Erik Aleksanyan said on Monday.
Badalyan’s lawyers filed a motion to the court to change his measure of restraint and release him on bail on May 27, three days after his arrest.
“This is further evidence of political persecution against Mikayel Badalyan. The Armenian authorities are doing everything possible to keep the pro-Russian politician in prison,” Aleksanyan wrote on Facebook.
