Armenian military denies reports of Azeri advancement near Nerkin Hand village
The Defense Ministry of Armenia has denied media reports alleging Azerbaijani advancement in the mountainous area near the village of Nerkin Hand in Armenia’s Syunik Province.
The ministry cited its statement of March 21, reiterating that the deployment of the Azerbaijani troops in that border area was recorded in the post-war period after November 9, 2020.
“Moreover, immediately after recording the deployment, the Armenian army took all necessary measures to take the Azerbaijani positions under control, as a result of which the movements of the Azerbaijani servicemen in that area are fully controlled and any attempt to advance will lead to retaliation”, the statement says.
The Defense Ministry urges people to refrain from spreading misinformation that "damages the reputation of the army and causes unnecessary tensions.”
