Over 1.6 mln refugees arrived in Russia from Ukraine, Donbass
The arrivals of refugees from Ukraine and the two Donbass republics in Russia have topped 1.6 million, a law enforcement source told TASS on Wednesday.
"As of Wednesday morning, 1.6 million people, including almost 263,000 children, have made it to Russia," the source said, adding that most people arrived from the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics.
More than 33,000 people, including 11,000 children, are staying at 559 temporary accommodation centers in Russia, while the other refugees are housed privately or are staying with their relatives.
A total of 2.785 billion rubles ($45.414 million) has been paid to those among refugees who have applied for a one-off payment upon their arrival in Russia.
