Court hearing in Serzh Sargsyan's case postponed
A court hearing in the criminal case against former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and two others was postponed due to the absence of witnesses on Thursday.
Witnesses Yeghishe Vardanyan and Sevan Kocharyan were to be questioned at the hearing, but they did not appear in court.
The hearing was postponed to July 7.
Serzh Sargsyan is accused of embezzling government funds through misuse of official position.
The indictment said that Sargsyan used his official position in January and February 2013, when he was president, to steer a government fuel contract to a particular company that cost the state an additional 489 million drams (roughly $1 million) in subsidies.
The other defendants in the case include Gevorg Harutyunyan, a former head of the Plant Breeding Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, and Flash company owner Barsegh Beglaryan.
