Nobel laureate Ardem Patapoutian arrives in Yerevan
Ardem Patapoutian, a molecular biologist and Nobel Prize winner of Armenian descent, has arrived in Yerevan to attend the Science and Business Days scheduled for June 13-17, the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs reports.
The large-scale event is organized under the initiative of the Ministry of Economy.
Various professionals from the Diaspora will partake in the series of events. President of Synopsys Armenia Yervant Zorian, AUA professor Armen Kherlopian, CEO of the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies Marie Lou Papazian and professor at New York University Georgi Derluguian are among the attendees.
“The event aims to show the connection between science and business, how scientific achievements can be effectively used in business as well as to make science attractive for young people,” the commissioner’s office said.
The main event will be a forum to be held at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex on June 15. Admission is free.
Ardem Patapoutian and U.S. scientist David Julius won the 2021 Nobel Prize in physiology and medicine for their discoveries of receptors for temperature and touch.
