Artsakh's NSS reveals high treason case involving soldier
The National Security Service of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) has uncovered a high treason case involving a serviceman of the Defense Army.
The man, identified only by his initials L.G., who is an Artsakh citizen, communicated with foreign intelligence services via social media and transferred military secrets to them in return for $1,550 in 2021, the NSS said in a statement on Friday.
In January and February 2021, the soldier established contact with a foreign agent posing as a young Armenian woman on Facebook and was paid $150 for providing some military information.
The man continued his interaction with another foreign agent through a mobile application from February 2021 and provided data on the location of combat positions along the line of contact, their equipment and armament as well as the number of troops on duty in return for $1,400.
A criminal case has been launched into high treason under Article 310 of Artsakh’s Criminal Code and the man has been placed under arrest. He has confessed to the crime.
