Any development in Russian-Azerbaijani relations will impact South Caucasus, MP says
Tigran Abrahamyan, an Armenian MP from the opposition Pativ Unem bloc, says Azerbaijani news outlets and Telegram channels are actively engaged in anti-Russian propaganda amid the Russia-Ukraine crisis.
In a Facebook post on Monday, the lawmaker stressed that they are owned by or affiliated with Azerbaijan’s government agencies and ruling elite.
“The hatred against Russian servicemen, sarcasm, cynicism, insulting remarks about the dead, wounded or captured soldiers testify to the increasing enmity towards Russians in Azerbaijan,” he wrote.
“Obviously, Russia is recording all this, but it is not yet clear when the country will resort to countermeasures.
“It remains to be seen how these and other phenomena will affect Russian-Azerbaijani relations after the Russian-Ukrainian crisis. It is important for Armenia not only because of its allied relations with Russia, but also because of Russia's key role in the ongoing processes in Armenian-Azerbaijani relations and over Artsakh.
“In any case, any development in Russian-Azerbaijani relations will have an impact on the South Caucasus region," Abrahamyan said.
