Presentation of book about fallen hero Robert Abajyan held in Artsakh
The presentation of a book about Robert Abajyan, a hero soldier who was killed defending Artsakh at the April 2016 war, was held in Artsakh’s capital Stepanakert on Sunday.
After heavy battles during the April 1-2 hostilities, Abajyan, 19, sacrificed himself by blowing up a hand grenade as Azerbaijani troops infiltrated his position. He was posthumously awarded the highest title of Hero of Artsakh.
The Yerevan presentation of the book “Hero of Artsakh Robert Abajyan” took place on November 16, 2021, the soldier’s birthday, while the presentation in Artsakh coincided with the birthday of the hero's brother, Ruben.
"When we were discussing the timeframes for the event in Artsakh, Ruben suggested organizing it on his birthday. The best gift for him on his birthday was to organize a presentation of a book telling about his brother," its author Lilit Harutyunyan told reporters.
She says the book is about struggle, as the soldiers guarding the 116th combat position fought until their last breath, refusing to leave the trenches.
"Holding a book presentation in Artsakh is a homage to the solders and the homeland. It is a step not to give up in these difficult days for Artsakh," the author said.
