Artur Vanetsyan visited Yerevan's Liberty Square last night
Artur Vanetsyan, head of the opposition Homeland Party and the Pativ Unem parliamentary faction, was spotted in Yerevan’s central Liberty Square late on Wednesday.
He visited the parents of fallen soldiers who put up a tent on the square to continue the struggle, the Hraparak daily reported.
Vanetsyan spent about three hours in the square and talked to the parents.
Professor Gurgen Melikyan was also seen in the square.
"Our correspondent saw different people approaching Vanetsyan and convincing him to return to Liberty Square to continue the sit-in which he started in late April. They said they were ready to come and join him in the square," the newspaper says.
The Armenian opposition removed the tents from France Square early on Wednesday, but announced plans to continue marches and rallies in Yerevan until Nikol Pashinyan’s ouster.
The opposition groups had set up the tent camp on the square when the protests first began in early May.
