Russia interested in stable situation in Armenia, Putin says
Russia wants to see a stable situation and sustainable development in Armenia, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday.
The Russian president stressed that Armenia is not just Russia’s partner but its strategic ally, TASS reported.
"We value it and understand everything which is now going on in and around Armenia. We are set to develop our partner relations. We are interested in a stable situation in that country so that it could guarantee sustainable development. I hope that our meeting today will help achieve this," he said at a meeting with Armenia’s new President Vahagn Khachaturyan on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
Putin noted that he is glad to welcome Khachaturyan. "I hope you don’t regret coming here, to the St. Petersburg Economic Forum," he said.
Khachaturyan expressed gratitude to the Russian leader for his efforts to stop the war with Azerbaijan in November 2020.
