Artur Vanetsyan reacts to deadly shooting in Armenian village
Senior opposition lawmaker Artur Vanetsyan has reacted to the fatal incident involving a group of people in Nigavan, a village near the town of Aparan in Armenia’s Aragatsotn Province, late on Sunday, which left one killed and six others wounded.
Media reports suggest the relatives of members of Nikol Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party fired shots at a group of young men after the latter swore at him. According to preliminary data provided by the police, a hunting gun was used. A probe into the circumstances of the incident is underway.
“I just learned about the horrific incident in Aparan. According to the latest reports, there is one dead and six wounded, two of whom are in critical condition,” the MP, who heads the Pativ Unem bloc, wrote on Facebook.
He says one of the wounded is an employee of the National Security Service.
“I wish a speedy recovery to all the wounded and extend my condolences to the family of the deceased. I am waiting for the response of law enforcement agencies,” Vanetsyan said.
“Are those, who have divided the people into ‘black” and “white” groups, happy now?” he added.
