Armenian judicial watchdog head to undergo surgery, member says
The acting head of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) overseeing Armenian courts, Gagik Jhangiryan, is set to undergo surgery, SJC member David Khachatryan said at a special parliament sitting on Monday.
"I probably should have announced it earlier. It's just that due to organizational issues I didn't have time to do it. Mr. Jhangiryan is to undergo surgery due to health issues. The surgery may have already started. So, I am going to replace him,” he said, introducing Artak Zeynalyan’s candidacy for the vacant post of a judge of the Administrative Chamber of the Court of Cassation.
Opposition lawmakers were not present at the sitting.
