Opposition MP Artur Ghazinyan steps down
Armenian MP Artur Ghazinyan of the opposition Hayastan bloc is resigning his seat, he said in a statement on Monday.
“I have decided to resign from the parliament. I believe this is the most appropriate and justified decision in the current situation,” he said.
Ghazinyan did not elaborate on reasons for his resignation, saying only “they are exclusively political and tactical in nature”.
"At this point, I can only say that I no longer imagine any further activity in the parliament and I can't retain my MP status under these conditions. It would be unfair," he explained.
At the same time, the politician reiterated his assessments on the situation in Armenia and Artsakh as well as all his accusations against the incumbent authorities.
"The resistance movement has a huge untapped potential. It is the only existing platform that can prevent new betrayals and concessions. The movement must be maintained and strengthened. I will continue to participate in its protests and urge everyone to join them," the oppositionist said.
