Varuzhan Geghamyan: Armenia's political field again 'swallowed the bait thrown by capitulators'
Varuzhan Geghamyan (Ph.D.), an expert on the Middle East and the South Caucasus, on Monday accused the Armenian authorities of again distracting the public attention from key issues.
"The domestic political field has once again swallowed the bait thrown by the capitulators,” he wrote on Telegram on Monday.
“For several days now, an event of little importance has been discussed and everything is in place for a show: a cross, religious emotions, odious figures,” the expert said, referring to businessman Gagik Tsarukyan’s plans to erect a huge statue of Jesus Christ in the country.
“Meanwhile, the capitulator is preparing to open the Armenian-Turkish border and to hand over Berdzor [to Azerbaijan], continuing to undermine the security of Artsakh and Syunik and to prosecute patriots.
“The key task of the national forces is to form a real agenda for real Armenia, which would focus not only on the current challenges and real problems, but also on the ways to handle them.
“The only way is to be proactive, which requires hard work, relentless persistence and consistency,” Geghamyan said.
