Armenian parliament majority holds special sitting
Armenian parliament majority affiliated with the ruling Civil Contract party convened an emergency sitting on Thursday morning to debate amendments to several laws.
In particular, the National Assembly Council is set to debate five bills calling for changes to the Electoral Code, the Judicial Code, the law on road transport and others.
“Given that the proposed changes are essential and the National Assembly, in fact, is completing its activity and will resume it in September, the important changes cannot be delayed for two months, thus they are proposed to be discussed and voted on within 24 hours at a special sitting,” Civil Contract’s Artur Hovhannisyan said, addressing lawmakers.
Opposition MPs have again boycotted the sitting.
