Vahagn Vermishyan feels ill in courtroom
Vahagn Vermishyan, the former head of the Armenian government's Urban Development Committee, felt ill in the courtroom on Monday and the hearing was interrupted, his lawyer Alexander Kochubaev said on Facebook.
The lawyer noted that his health condition worsened due to a cerebral circulatory disorder, which he developed while in custody.
"After the hearing resumed, Vahagn Vermishyan called for a moment of silence to honor [late film producer] Armen Grigoryan's memory. However, this was considered by the judge as disrespect and Vermishyan was told to leave the courtroom for 10 hours," Kochubaev wrote.
He highlights that the judge presiding over Vermishyan’s trial is Mnatsakan Martirosyan, who also presided over the trial in Armen Grigoryan’s case. The latter collapsed and died in the courtroom on July 16.
Vermishyan was arrested in February 2020 on bribery charges.
