Caucasian leopard again caught on camera in Armenia
As a result of monitoring carried out jointly by the Khosrov Forest State Reserve SNOC and the World Wide Fund for Nature Armenia (WWF Armenia), the camera traps of the reserve have again captured the Caucasian leopard, the Ministry of Environment reported on Friday.
The leopard is the most critically endangered species in the Caucasus ecoregion. The species is included in the Red Data Book of Armenia (2010) and on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species.
The habitats of the Caucasian leopard include arid mountain grasslands, arid sparse forests, mountain grasslands, subalpine and alpine meadows.
