21st Ottavio Ziino International Opera Competition to kick off in Rome in September
Since 2002, the Cultural Association "Il Villaggio della Musica" has created in Rome, Italy, the homeland and cradle of melodrama, the Ottavio Ziino International Opera Competition, named after the famous conductor, composer of Sicilian origin and Roman by adoption.
From the 1st to the 20th edition, about 6,000 opera singers from all over the world participated. The C.L.I.O.Z. counts among its winners Jessica Pratt, Marina Rebeka, Luciano Ganci, Angela Nisi, Claudio Sgura, Toshaki Murakami, Simone Piazzola, Sandra Pastrana, Veronica Simeoni, Lance Ryan, Sofia Soloviy, Anna Pennisi, Min Ji Kim, Damiana Mizzi, and many others others who are treading the stage of the most important theaters in the world.
Now in its 21st edition this year, the Ottavio Ziino International Opera Competition will be held from 20 to 22 September 2022 in Rome in the splendid setting of the Ghione Theater. Each year an international jury is composed, made up of superintendents and artistic directors of prestigious opera houses, opera singers and composers.
Francesco Giambrone, Superintendent and Artistic Director of the Rome Opera House, is set to preside over the jury. Sergey Smbatyan, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra and Principal Conductor of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, is among the jurors.
The international jury is joined by a critical jury. The competition is structured in three phases. The phases all take place with the piano, while the final consists of a real gala concert in the presence of the public and the institutions.
The Cultural Association "Il Villaggio della Musica" aims to promote and disseminate musical culture, through the organization of competitions, concerts, events, masterclasses and also to give young musicians the opportunity to promote themselves, offering them a stage on which to test. The Association pursues articles 3 and 9 of the Italian Constitution, in particular on the principles contained in art. 9 Article 9. The Republic promotes the development of culture and scientific research and... Protects the landscape and the historical and artistic heritage of the nation.
