
Heatwave persisting in Armenia
Temperatures are set to rise further by 1-3C in Armenia on Wednesday and Thursday as warm air masses from Iraq have hit the country, the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center reports.
Highs of up to 40C are expected in some parts of the country, including the capital Yerevan, Ararat valley, foothills of Aragatsotn and Vayots Dzor Provinces.
Wildfire risks remain high in the country’s valleys and foothills.
No rain is predicted across the country from August 31 to September 3. Rain and thunderstorms are forecast in some parts for September 4-5.
The southwestern wind speed is 2-5 m/s. Strong winds of up to 18 m/s are expected during thunderstorms.
