Armenia to host International Organ Festival
Armenia will be hosting the International Organ Festival after Vahagn Stamboltsyan from September 26 to November 6, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports reported on Friday.
A total of 12 concerts will be held in the capital Yerevan, the towns of Kapan and Charentsavan as part of the festival featuring world-renowned organists, including Fabio Macera (Italy), Evgeny Avramenko (Russia), Jean-Pierre Steijvers (the Netherlands), Lada Labzina (Russia) and Emmanuel Arakelian (France). They will also offer master classes for local musicians.
Representing Armenia in the festival are organists Anna Bakunts, Karine Hovhannisyan, Harutyun Tagvoryan, Tereza Voskanyan, Hovhannes Manukyan, Armen Aghajanyan, Davit Hovhannisyan, Lusin Sarajyan, Lusine Harutyunyan, Vahagn Margaryan and Marina Nahapetyan.
The festival program features both classical music pieces and organ works by Armenian musicians.
Tribute concerts for Komitas and Mikael Tariverdiev are also panned.
The festival is held with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports and at the initiative of the National Center of Chamber Music.
