Armenia's education minister dismisses resignation rumors
Armenia’s minister of education on Thursday dismissed rumors he and some other government officials plan to resign anytime soon.
“Frankly speaking, this is the first time I've heard of it. I have nothing to add,” Vahram Dumanyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, told reporters.
Separately, the minister again defended the plan to build an academic complex housing all state-run universities of Armenia in the town of Ashtarak in Aragatsotn Province.
“Any plan aimed at improving the quality of education is justified. Moreover, the idea of an academic campus is already entering a practical stage,” he said.
“We are discussing various options for the creation of new higher education institutions based on existing ones rather than their merger,” the minister added.
