Azerbaijani forces advanced towards Nerkin Hand village, official says
Azerbaijani troops secured some positional advances towards the village of Nerkin Hand in Armenia’s Syunik Province during their latest attack, Syunik Deputy Governor Nare Ghazaryan told Pastinfo on Thursday.
“They have not entered the village, but some of the enemy positions are deployed close to it,” she said.
“Women and children have been evacuated from the village, but the men remain there. They have been given weapons to help the army, if needed," Ghazaryan noted.
The official dismissed reports of evacuations in the villages of Shikahogh, Tsav and Srashen.
“The local residents remain in the village and the men have been armed,” she said.
The displaced residents of the Syunik border settlements have temporarily settled in the towns of Goris and Kapan or in neighboring relatively safe villages.
The Armenian Defense Ministry said the ceasefire agreed late on Wednesday was holding on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on Thursday morning.
105 Armenian troops were killed in Azerbaijani attacks in two days.
