Parents of fallen soldiers plan to bloc Pashinyan's entry into Yerablur on war anniversary
The parents of Armenian soldiers killed in the 2020 Artsakh war unveiled plans to prevent Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan from entering the Yerablur Military Pantheon in Yerevan on the second anniversary of the war to be marked on September 27.
"We will gather at Yerablur starting from 11pm on September 26 to bar the traitor from entering the pantheon in the morning of September 27,” they said in a joint statement shared by Anna Mkrtchyan, a fallen solder’s mother, on Facebook on Saturday.
The parents insist that they remain committed to their promise to fight tirelessly and to continue the cause of their sons
“The treacherous regime’s policy continues to deal heavy blows to the homeland,” they said. "We are giving a new impetus to our struggle. The liberation of Armenia must begin at Yerablur, and the first step is to keep the traitors away from the holy place.”
They pointed to the use of force by police against the grieving parents in the military cemetery on Armenia’s Independence Day.
“The violence committed by the police on September 21 have angered all our dignified fellow citizens. We urge everyone to come and stand with us so that we can succeed as a result of our joint struggle," the statement said.
