Pashinyan's party loses election in Shirak community
Nikol Pashinyan's Civil Contract party has suffered an election setback in the enlarged community of Ani in Armenia’s Shirak Province.
Local elections were held in 18 communities of Aragatsotn, Gegharkunik, Lori, Kotayk, Shirak, Syunik, Vayots Dzor and Tavush Provinces on Sunday.
According to preliminary results reported by the Central Election Commission, Civil Contract received 3,033 votes in the Ani election, losing to its incumbent mayor Artak Gevorgyan. The Nation-Community bloc led by the mayor garnered 3,763 votes in Sunday’s election.
The Armenian Dream party, which also joined the race, got 1,037 votes.
