Parents of missing soldiers protest outside Armenian Defense Ministry
The families of Armenian soldiers, who went missing during Azerbaijan’s latest military aggression against Armenia, staged a protest outside the Armenian Defense Ministry on Monday morning, demanding information about their sons' whereabouts.
“I have had no news from my son and his fellow soldiers for 13 days now. What are you doing about it?” Serzhik Ghazaryan, the father of missing conscript Seryozha Ghazaryan, said, addressing Defense Minister Suren Papikyan.
The man insists that the wounded and the bodies of dead soldiers have been lying in an Azeri-held Verin Shorzha gorge for 13 days, but no action has been taken to rescue or evacuate them.
“No efforts have been made to evacuate the wounded in a timely manner. If it had been done, our children would have been saved," said the soldier's father.
Verin Shorzha was one of the Armenian border settlements which came under intense Azerbaijani shelling on September 13-14.
“I am waiting for an answer from the Defense Ministry regarding the evacuation of the dead or wounded soldiers. I have checked every footage, my son’s fate remains unknown at the moment. I don’t know whether he has been taken prisoner, killed or missing,” Ghazaryan said, warning that the soldiers' parents will resort to tougher measures if the Defense Ministry ignores their demands.
Some of the protesting parents entered the Defense Ministry for a meeting.
