Pashinyan reiterates call for deployment of int'l observer mission on border
Nikol Pashinyan on Thursday reiterated the call for the deployment of an international observer mission on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border to prevent Azerbaijan’s provocations.
His statement came after the fresh Azerbaijani shelling of Armenian border positions which killed three Armenian servicemen on Wednesday.
"As a responsible member of the international community, we agree with all calls and statements that disputes should be resolved peacefully through diplomatic efforts, but as we see, Azerbaijan continues aggression [against Armenia],” Pashinyan told a cabinet meeting.
“Thus, the deployment of an international observer mission on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, be it a mission of the UN Security Council, OSCE or any other international organization, may help resolve the issue,” he said.
The premier stated that Azerbaijan’s provocations are also aimed at disrupting the normal life in Armenia.
“Naturally, in the current situation the life cannot be considered normal because the society is constantly waiting for news which disrupts the people’s daily routine,” Pashinyan said. “But each of us should stay focused on our daily work because the development of the country, the normal operation of the economy and systems are of vital significance for our defense capabilities.”
