Japan's envoy concerned about situation after Azeri military aggression against Armenia
Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan on Friday hosted Japanese Ambassador to Armenia Masanori Fukushima, the government’s press office reported.
The officials stressed the need to realize the existing potential in bilateral political and economic relations. The Japanese envoy emphasized the importance of launching people-to-people contacts and youth exchange programs to deepen cultural dialogue between the two countries.
During the meeting, the interlocutors also touched on the consequences of Azerbaijan’s large-scale military aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia earlier in September.
“In this regard, Ambassador Fukushima informed about his recent visit to the affected settlements of Gegharkunik Province along with the heads of other foreign diplomatic missions in Armenia, expressed concern about the situation and reaffirmed Japan's readiness to promote peaceful settlement of issues,” the readout of the meeting said.
