No paper will stop Baku and Ankara, says former Armenian PM
Armenia's former Prime Minister Vazgen Manukyan believes it is necessary to stop further negotiations with Azerbaijan and Turkey after a new video of Azerbaijani troops executing several Armenian soldiers emerged online on Sunday.
“The whole world witnessed another act of violence committed by Azerbaijani troops against Armenian prisoners. We are now demanding that the perpetrators, the war criminals, be held to account. But this is a self-deception. The problem is not only with that group: it lies in the state policy of Azerbaijan,” he said in a statement on Monday.
Manukyan highlights that the state-run policy of Armenophobia in Azerbaijan for decades has turned the whole Azerbaijani people into “wild beasts” who want to exterminate Armenians.
“Talking about a peace treaty, they at the same time threaten to get to Yerevan. Under these conditions, to continue negotiations with Azerbaijan or Turkey is tantamount to cowardice and stupidity. It is also humiliating for the Armenian people. No paper will stop them – only power and determination," the former PM said.
