Mkhitar Zakaryan quits as Hayastan MP
Opposition Hayastan bloc MP Mkhitar Zakaryan has stepped down, he revealed on Tuesday.
"I have decided to resign my deputy’s mandate to serve the homeland more effectively,” Zakaryan, a senior member of the Reviving Armenia Party, said in a statement posted by his party on Facebook.
“At the same time, I would like to inform that I will continue my political activities as a member of the Reviving Armenia Party, doing my best to solve the problems facing the country," he said.
Zakaryan pointed to major security challenges facing Armenia and Artsakh.
"The problems are numerous – from a direct threat of force to the politicization of humanitarian issues. All of them must be resolved urgently, but for their effective and final solution each of us should be in the right place," he noted.
