World-famous violin maker Andranik Gaybaryan visits Yerevan
Violin maker Andranik Gaybaryan, living in the U.S., was in Armenia on the sidelines of the Armenia International Music Festival, whose violins made are played by the most acclaimed musicians from around the world.
Legendary violinist Gil Shaham performed at the Armenia Festival with a violin created by Andranik Gaybaryan in 2017, the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra told Panorama.am on Tuesday.
“I learned about him from the musicians of the Boston Orchestra, many violinists in this orchestra play with instruments made by him. Andranik Gaybaryan’s violins seem to play with a perfect sound. You can really bow down to Andranik Gaybaryan’s talent,” says Gil Shaham, emphasizing that the violin maker himself is a violinist, which helps him even more in his work.
Andranik Gaybaryan grew up and studied in Rostov, Russian Federation, then moved to the USA, where he has been steadily gaining a reputation as one of the finest violin makers. He confesses that he became interested in violin making when he was 14-15 years old. He started making violins out of small parts and later moved on to making whole violins. He made his first violin after graduating from the Conservatory. Today, his perception of sound is enthusiastically shared by the world's leading musicians, including Zakhar Bron, Gil Shaham, Kim Kashkashian, Vadim Repin, Roman Totenberg and others.
