What will Armenia do with 200 kg of caviar sent back from Georgia?
Customs officers at the Georgian Sadakhlo checkpoint have rejected the import of 200 kg of caviar into the country from Armenia.
The Revenue Service of Georgia’s Ministry of Finance reports that experts identified temperature breaches during its transportation and the cargo was returned to the exporting country.
Where is the caviar stored with temperature abuse now and what measures are being taken to prevent it from reaching markets in Armenia?
In response to a Panorama.am query, the Food Safety Inspectorate said the caviar was stored at safe temperatures when crossing the Georgian border
"Later, due to a vehicle malfunction or some other unknown reason, the temperature regime of the vehicle was broken. The truck loaded with caviar returned to Armenia and is now at the customs terminal. Caviar samples were taken and sent for microbiological expertise,” said Anush Harutyunyan, the spokeswoman of the foot safety watchdog.
In her words, if the examination reveals no violations, the caviar will be returned to the economic entity, otherwise it will be destroyed.
