Artsakh army spokesman responds to Aliyev’s claims about landmines
The planting of landmines by the Artsakh Defense Army has been carried out exclusively on the line of contact with Azerbaijan, army spokesman Suren Sarumyan told Artsakhpress on Thursday, referring to the Azerbaijani leader’s latest statement.
He underscored that the process was carried out on both sides.
Speaking at today’s regular meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council in Astana, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev once again announced that, allegedly, the Armenian side had deliberately planted about a million mines in the occupied territories of Nagorno-Karabakh.
According to Suren Sarumyan, after the first war, a lot of work was carried out to neutralize the mines planted by Azerbaijani forces, however, considering their volumes, hundreds of hectares are still mined.
The spokesperson noted that all the information about the landmines planted in those areas is known only to the Azerbaijani side, adding the fictitious accusations against the Armenian side are an attempt to mislead the international community.
